Digital Twin TechStack:
Keenan Granland is the manager of the Monash Smart Manufacturing Lab.
Located in the Engineering 60 Building, G25. MNET has worked with him in the past and we are excited to currently set up plans for work in 2025 as well.
The main project is creating a ‘digital twin’ of his lab—a one-to-one digital replica that integrates real-time data from the physical lab. This allows us to monitor and control the state of the lab off campus and in real life. If you'd like to learn more about this process, feel free to reach out to Leads for examples.
At the moment, we have to build up our knowledge and experience working with 3D environments, meaning we will be taking on smaller projects. The digital twin is being built in Unity, meaning that every part of the lab that will be shown in the digital twin will need to have a gameObject (I believe these are stored as .prefab files???). Our goal is to get various parts of the lab into this unity environment, starting with more simple objects.
This current progress is building up to eventually working on the Smart Infrastructure Collaboration, where MNET will be responsible for two major projects
